[h=1]Director Wray’s Statement Regarding Agent-Involved Shooting in Florida[/h]

FBI Director Christopher Wray issued the following statement regarding an agent-involved shooting in Sunrise, Florida.
Tragically, the FBI lost two of our own today. Special Agent Daniel Alfin and Special Agent Laura Schwartzenberger were shot and killed this morning in the line of duty while executing a federal court-ordered search warrant in a crimes against children investigation in Sunrise, Florida. Three other agents were shot and wounded; two suffered injuries requiring hospital care, but both are now in stable condition. The third injured agent did not require hospitalization.

Every day, FBI special agents put themselves in harm’s way to keep the American people safe. Special Agent Alfin and Special Agent Schwartzenberger exemplified heroism today in defense of their country. The FBI will always honor their ultimate sacrifice and will be forever grateful for their bravery. We continue to stand by our FBI Family, and the families of these special agents, in the days to come, bringing every resource we can to get through this together.

This one stings a little.

Agent Schwartzenberger lives in my hometown and has kids. She lives in my friend's neighborhood. He actually put a video on facebook today of a brigade of police cars going to their house today to pick up the family. Very sad

The shooter was a 55 male who was found eventually killed.

I hope the SCUMBAG shooter ROTS in hell!!!

Scum bag pedo had ring door bell , agents were sitting ducks. Hope the agency with learn from this mistake moving forward. Then sleepy joe says vast majority are decent agents, what a tone deaf comment based on situation.

First thing I thought of was that you are serving a warrant to a perp that if convicted, would get life for his violent crimes against a child or children. He's dead either way. Situational awareness comes to mind along with never underestimate who you are dealing with. Why didn't they wait until he left the building or his place????. They go by the book, which is why many bad things happen.

What were their mistakes? Serving a warrant and the guy blasted them through a closed door. Kind of hard to mitigate that.

Wasn’t clear sorry, when officers or agents serving warrant they need to have ability or understanding to turn off or scramble internet services on those ring devices, it was my understanding from a fox article is that this pedo had cameras monitoring or pointing at door, dangerous huge advantage if bad intentions, no surprise element, I guess.

He used the ring camera to his advantage. He probably got a motion alert when they arrived to serve the warrant.

Another thing to add. A judge Federal or state or county level for that matter determines when or time of day that warrant is executed. Meaning it is very possible they had to execute the warrant between a certain time frame.
Judge also determines if is a no knock warrant or knock and announce. Obviously knock and announce is a huge disadvantage as well as time constraints if these where factors.
Curious to see if this ever comes about.
Shitty situation regardless....

It's unreal - they should have went at 2am like they did for Roger Stone

Exactly. It's terrible those agents lost their lives because the FBI didn't send in the same army they sent to get Stone. Over TWO DOZEN bullet-proof vested, helmeted, agents with fully automatic weapons to arrest him but a half a dozen barely armed, unprotected agents to arrest a dangerous pedophile.

You said it best. You think the Russians and Israeli's make these mistakes. Law enforcement here in the US is miles behind others.
